Works without Faith!

“But someone will say, you have faith and I have works. Show me

your faith without works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

James 2:18

This title sounds like I have the cart before the horse, but isn’t this the case many times in our eagerness to serve? We get works going before we get faith in motion! As I was meditating upon these two words “faith and works,” it came to me that they are of a two-sided coin. First, unless we believe a task can be done, there will be no results. Second, unless we have the desire to work, again nothing will be accomplished. So where does this take us?

As the two sides are melted together and united into oneness in Jesus’ name and filled with His power by the Holy Spirit, then we have a working force of which we can truthfully say, “all things work together for good” and our hearts will begin to love our neighbor as ourselves. The result of this phenomenon (loving our neighbor as ourselves) will bring us to accomplish what Jesus did as our example during His time here on earth!

We will feed the hungry, share our blessings with those in need, and care for the sick, orphans and widows. This example, too, will reach the lost and dying of this world along with blessing those of the family of God! Yes, as we obey God’s word and apply the following Scripture, we will be a blessed Body of Christ, accomplished in all His works!

“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”

James 2:26
