Romans 6:4 “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”  When someone accepts Christ as their Saviour and then is baptized, he is told to walk in newness because he now has a new life.  Just as Christ was buried and raised to life again, so we too are raised to new life after we are saved.  We are a new person.  The old us is now dead.  We have a new path to walk with God.  We did not have God before.  We have a new name, a new family and a new destiny.  We are on a different road.  This road leads to heaven.  The old one led to hell.  It is a complete turnaround.  A different direction we are going.  Why is it we slip back at times to the old road, to the old way of life?  We are dead but we live.  We have been buried but we are alive.  Whoever we yield our members to, that is to whom we belong.  Oh, but we have been saved from that life.  Let us walk in newness of life.  Oh, worship the King who has redeemed us and placed us on “higher ground”.  Old things have passed away; behold all things are new.  Wow!!  A whole new opportunity awaits us as we walk in our new life.  The best part is that we do not walk alone.  Christ walks with us every day.  The Holy Spirit guides us in this new walk.  Remember when you were saved?  Life took on a new perspective, didn’t it?  Oh, let us not turn back but walk in this marvelous new life that God has given us until we meet Him face to face.
