“For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.â€
I have found over the years as a Christian the strong hold that self has in keeping control of my life. As long as we allow self to be on the throne of our life we are definitely in the mode of “self-destruct†because “our thoughts are not His thoughts and our ways are not His ways.â€Â When we allow our human reasoning to supersede the wisdom of the Holy Spirit we are on our way down the wrong path, the path that leads to destruction.
Believe me, I have trusted my own wisdom so many times in my life as a Christian and suffered severe consequences. What causes us to do this? It is “self†determined to do it our way and we rebel against the leading of His Holy Spirit. Have you ever been guilty of this? Oh my, a good example is to watch a little child, their little self will come out as clear as a bell. It is the same with us God’s children!
After years of trial and error we come to a point of realization of how little wisdom we possess and how very wise our Heavenly Father is. You have probably said as I have, why did I have to grow old before I allowed the wisdom of God to fill my heart and life! My how I could have suffered much less pain if I had surrendered my will to God and denied self the throne of my life. The trials of life have brought me to this prayer: “Lord please, cleanse away all that is in me that could become a source of self-confidence and glorifying!â€
I would like to share later in this series of devotionals what God is teaching me through life in “The True Vine.†Oh, to tap into the storehouse of the Wisdom of God is so exciting!Â
“But to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil.â€
