The Holy Spirit

John 14:26  “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

Mark 13:11  “When they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,

Acts 7:55 But being full of the Holy Spirit, he gazed intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God;

Acts 7:59 They went on stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”

Act 2:38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

It is beyond me that the Spirit of God dwells in me, another of God’s miracles in my life. It is a miracle to me, but easy for God. I am never alone, He is constantly with me. What a blessing to have the Spirit of God always available to me. In so many ways over the years I have seen and felt God work in what I was thinking, and what I was doing, and how He has brought others to my aid. He has helped me create bible study outlines, given me words to say to others about the Lord. He has convicted me of and helped keep me away from sin. He has helped me see God working around me and with others. The more of the Spirit in me, the more of Him I can see in others. Asked to do the one and only funeral for an Aunt of mine, I worked for several hours and came up with several pages of notes, but no real idea of what to prepare for her funeral. What I should have done in the first place I finally did, I prayed. God gave me 12 verses from previous studies and how to proceed. In less than a half hour I was ready and confident. This tells you some of what the Spirit did for me and unfortunately, a little about me at that time.  I have heard the term filled, or being filled with the Spirit many times.  When I think of someone like Stephen and what he did in Acts, I think, now there is a man who was filled with the Spirit as much as humanly possible. For sure I have not even come close to demonstrating the faith of Stephen, maybe someday. How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit? I already have Him in me, how can I have more? Read the next four devotionals, 6-9 and I will share what I believe what I have learned and what I am trying to do.
