Power in the Holy Spirit

“But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power to

testify about Me with great effect, to the people in Jerusalem, throughout

Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth, about My death and resurrection.”

Acts 1:8

When our hearts are filled with the love of Jesus we rest in the presence of His Holy Spirit within. As we acknowledge His presence, we realize the power He gives to energize our spirit and the ability to witness to the lost. Only the Holy Spirit can convict the heart of anyone, and it is not until this conviction takes place that unbelievers will open their hearts to repent and receive Jesus and His forgiveness.

This power is appropriated through faith in the living person of the Holy Spirit within. We can never accomplish this in our own strength or ability, and if we think so, we fail in the call upon our lives as disciples of Christ. When self raises up its head for recognition, it is Satan there to rob us of our joy in being the vessel of the Holy Spirit, used to win the lost.

This is the reality of it all, “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last – and so that whatever you ask in My name the Father will give you.” (John 15:16)

Success in winning the lost is through absolute faith and the surrender of our control to the Power within, the precious Holy Spirit. He does it all, and we are only the vessels He uses!

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me,

and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

John 15:5

“I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen

you with power through His Spirit in your inner being,”

Ephesians 3:16

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

2 Corinthians 5:7
