NO MORE NIGHT

I do not like dark.  As the sun goes down, my emotions fall, also.  So, I was thrilled to read Revelation 22:5a:  “There shall be no night there; They need no lamp nor light of the sun , for the Lord God gives them light”.  Sunsets are beautiful; but I am looking forward to the day when there will be no sunset.

I associate dark with evil.  We have a Pastor that often says, “Nothing good ever happens after 9:00PM.” John 3:19 says it this way: “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil”.  Statistics show that the majority of crimes are committed at night.  Even children will seek a dark “hideaway” when they want to do something that they know is wrong.  The world uses the term, the DARK side, to describe sin and evil.

Praise God that He is with us even in the night. Psalm 139:11-12: “If I say, Surely the darkness shall fall on me,’ even the night shall be light about me;  Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You.” The night is not a frightful thing when God holds my hand.  His presence banishes darkness.

Job 35:10 talks of songs in the night while Psalm 77:6 says : “I call to remembrance my song in the night.” God with us is our comfort and He gives us peace.  Many times, God gives me a song to cheer me and enable me to sleep in peace.

Fear the dark?  Not me, I have the Light of the World to banish the darkness.

I like this chorus of a song written by Walter S. Harrah:

NO MORE NIGHT, NO MORE PAIN

NO MORE TEAR, NEVER CRYING AGAIN

AND PRAISES TO THE GREAT I AM

WE WILL LIVE IN THE LIGHT OF THE RISEN LAMB.
