 NASB Translation
A friend of mine told me the other day, when he surrendered his life to Jesus, he did not have one friend, a person he could call a friend. Now he has several he can count on and trust, maybe more. Praise God. Many people are like him, with none, or maybe one or two friends during their whole life. A true friend is not a golfing, fishing, bowling buddy, or the like, although one may be a friend. Most of the time they are just acquaintances. Are they a friend that loves unconditionally at all times? There is no greater blessing than a true friend. I can remember the same circumstance in my life. The truth is, we all have at least one friend, even if we don’t know it, or want to accept it, His name is Jesus. He is my friend no matter what I do. Friend is defined many ways, but Jesus demonstrates what kind of friend He is, and tells me what I have to do to be His friend. Jesus, called Judas friend just before Judas betrayed Him. Jesus considers everyone in the world friend, and called them that. He demonstrated His love for them and I, by dying for us. On the cross Jesus even asked the Father to forgive those that were killing Him. Jesus was criticized for being a friend of sinners, thank you Jesus, because I am a sinner. He forgave and took one of the others on the cross to paradise with Him. He provided for His Mother by telling John to take care of her. No one like Jesus, and He is my friend, is He yours? Absolutely He is our friend, the big question is, am I His friend. My eternal future hangs on the answer to this question. Jesus tells me my love for Him can be proved by me by keeping His commandments, and if necessary, dying for my friends, of which, He is my best friend,
