Have you ever had times in your life that you felt just too tired of everything to go on? Those are the times when life keeps knocking you down and before you can get back on your feet again, it gives you another blow. You are discouraged, tired, and may even begin to have doubts about God’s love; does He really care, and if so, where is He and why can’t I feel his presence? Many of us have been there and it is not a happy place.
A few years ago, our family suffered some devastating illnesses almost simultaneously. It was a dark time for us and there seemed to be no end to the pain and suffering. During this time, I learned some important truths about the love and compassion of our God, and I wrote the following words. I hope they will speak to your heart.
My life was in shambles, my spirit was so low;
There was no peace in my heart, where could I go?
I heard the voice of Jesus calling so sweet,
“Come to me, precious one. Lay your cares at my feet.â€
The world had overtaken me; I was flanked on all sides.
But the Master is faithful, His love still abides.
From the Beginning, my Lord had a plan
To love me; to save me; to keep me in His hand.
“Come to me, precious one. Lay your cares at my feet.
I will give eternal life and a joy that is complete.
I will carry your burdens and give you sweet rest.
In my arms you’ll be safe, and forever be blest.â€
With my doubt and my pain, I made my way to the cross
To the feet of Jesus.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.â€Â
