Many months have their special significance: July for independence, November for Thanksgiving, December for Christmas and your own birthday or anniversary month! But there is something very special about the springtime months. They bring hope for good things to come. If you live in the north, the longer days, the new warmth of the sun, the crocus flowers peeking through the melting snow and the pussy willows bursting out. Farther south the rivers are breaking free from their winter covering of ice and in the deep south, the azaleas are blooming and we watch the robins pass through on their way north.
         Spring is a season of hope. It the season when everything around us comes alive…..a new birth. We celebrate the resurrection of our dear Lord and Savior and glean from the Scriptures so many messages of hope. In Romans 15:4 and 13
“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.†“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.â€
         The often quoted Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.â€
         We all experience gloomy days from time to time for various reasons but if we trust in Jesus and turn to his promises of hope in the Bible, our days will become sunny again. But the biggest hope for believers is the promise that we will someday go to be with the Lord in heaven where there are no gloomy days and every day is celebrated with joy. Not even the best of springtime pleasures or the best of sunny days or the happiest celebrations can match what God has promised us…..to spend eternity with him.      Â
