Some people today believe that man is inherently good. They want us to look for the good in people, to trust people to do the right thing. They say that there is good in everyone. The Bible says in Jeremiah 17:9: “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; who can know it?â€Â And, Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.â€Â Without Jesus, our heart is black and evil.
We have a heart problem that only God can cure. We need a heart transplant. God wants to give us a new heart. Ezekiel 36:26: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.â€Â Psalm 51:10 is a plea for that heart transplant, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within meâ€.
When a physical heart transplant is performed, there is blood involved. So it is with a spiritual heart transplant. Jesus Christ shed his blood on Calvary for us. When we confess our sins and accept Jesus, He gives us a brand new heart. We are washed clean by His blood.
A patient who receives a heart transplant needs to take special medicine and do things to keep the new heart working properly. When we have a new heart from Jesus, we need to read His word daily and keep in contact with Him through prayer. The Holy Spirit will help to keep the new heart working perfectly.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me a new heart. I want to keep my heart pure. I ask the Holy Spirit to live in my heart. With His help, I want to live my life in a way that will be pleasing to God. Amen.
