God’s in Charge #3

How often do you deal with feelings that “life stinks”. How easily do you jump from “life stinks” to “God is not fair”? It has been said that adversities cause a person to become either better or bitter.  When we begin to think that life is unfair, we may soon begin to think that God is unfair.  After all, He is in charge of everything.  But when we are tempted to fall into that trap, we need to stop and remind ourselves that God is a just God.

“Is any one of you in trouble?  He should pray.”  James 5:13

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.  The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.  A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all;…”  Psalm 34:17-19

God does not leave us.  He provides strength to endure, which produces spiritual and moral character.  The daily adversities and difficulties we face because we serve Him strengthen our faith and cause us to depend more on Jesus and be drawn closer to Him.  This causes us to have more faith and love for Him and for each other, which in turn causes us to want to serve Him more faithfully.

“Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”  2 Corinthians 1:3-4

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’”

Psalm 91:1-2

“In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33
