“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.â€
The more we mature in the faith, the more we realize the less we know. So, in a spirit of humility we seek to know and understand Jesus in oneness of heart. Are you like myself finding this to be so true?
This Scripture has intrigued me for years, how does one lose their life, certainly not as Jesus did, but as I sit under the teaching of Pastor Don and listen as the Holy Spirit speaks through him, I am beginning to understand (partially) the depth of the meaning of the above verse, and although it requires a very sacrificial life, it is my heart’s desire to become obedient to the call of a disciple to follow Jesus.
It seems our ‘self-life’ is so determined to be entertained by the things in this world, we find it too difficult to make the sacrifice, not realizing that the pearl of great price is ‘Christ living His life in us’ and that His life will become ours as we yield ‘self’ to His authority and allow Him to live out His life through us. In our finite minds we say, this is impossible, I cannot! This is very correct, we cannot!! It is only the power of the Holy Spirit living within us that can make this possible! Do we believe this? Yes! I am seeking, in humility to know the very heart of Jesus, will you?
Have you ever met anyone who simply glows with the light of Jesus, and love just seems to be spilling out all over them? I have, and to me this is a life that has lost their life and found it in Jesus. That is what I want, but are we willing to give all to follow Jesus, it is very costly, I know, but so was the life of Jesus on the cross for our salvation!! May we allow this to seep deep within our hearts and give us understanding?
Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.â€
