Scripture tells us we receive the Holy Spirit when we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, we are a temple of God, the Spirit lives in us. Scripture also tells us to be filled with the Spirit. How can I have it and then be told to be filled with it? It’s true I fully have the Spirit, the question is does the Spirit have me? Therein lies the difficulty of being filled with the Spirit of God. I think being filled with the Spirit is a process, like sanctification, Growing in Christ, he must increase I must decrease, like John the Baptist said. But before we can even think about being filled, there are two prerequisites that are needed 1. You must be born again. 2. You must want to be filled. After these are satisfied we can begin the journey, and we should start by identifying the biggest road block, and what is that? you and I. Ok, so after  we take a good long look at ourselves and commit to honestly apply the scripture to our life as shown, and not as we want to believe, lets begin.
Essentials: 1. Be Christ Centered 2. Be In the Word 3. Be Submissive 4. Be confident. As you become more centered in Christ you will lean more on His word. We can’t become more centered without the word. Without being truly submissive, nothing will happen. The more we humbly focus on the first three above the more confident we will be come in them, and our  faith. These all tied together, you have to have them all.
How do I know I am on the right track and being filled with the Spirit of God? The more we are filled with the Spirit the more evident the fruit of the Spirit will be in our life.
Fruit of the Spirit: Galatians 5:22 – 24Â But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.
How are we doing? Will we ever be done? Not till the Lord comes to get us.Â
