Genesis 3:11   He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”

Genesis 3:12   The man said, “The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.”

Genesis 3:13   Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

Ezekiel 3:18   “When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.

Acts 18:6   But when they resisted and blasphemed, he shook out his garments and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on I will go to the gentiles.”

Luke 23:34a   But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”

NASB Translation 

If I have truly received Jesus as my Lord and Savior, then I have, as Paul stated, become a bond servant of the Lord. Am I a good servant or a bad one? If I accept the responsibility of being His bond-servant, then I should be obedient to His commands. Many times I failed to accept this responsibility just as Adam and Eve did. Whenever I sin (voluntary disobedience of God’s commands) I pay the consequences just like Adam and Eve. Because of Adam and Eve’s sin they and all mankind have been, and are cursed to this day. All of us are living with the consequences of Adam and Eve’s sin, as well as our own. As a younger person I fought submission to bosses, parents, and most importantly, even God. I could hide from most of them sometimes, but like Adam and Eve, never from God. As I became more spiritually mature, I became aware of my responsibility to the Lord and others for the Lord’s sake. I have witnessed this human trait of not wanting to admit fault, or accept responsibility many times, but today it is much worse than any time in my life. It is scary to read Ezekiel 3:18, and wonder what it could cost me for not presenting the consequences of sin, and the good news of salvation to others when I have the chance. Paul might have had this in mind when he wrote Acts 18:6. If I will just be a good bond servant I don’t need to think about it, just follow Jesus. The greatest example of accepting responsibility, obedience, love, and forgiveness was Jesus as He hung on the cross.
