Abiding in Christ

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.”

John 15:4

Just what does it mean to abide in Christ?  We understand what abide means but do we understand the results of abiding and what must take place to abide. Oh yes, am I ever learning! This thirst that God has placed in my heart to know and understand His Word is astounding, but such a joy!

The more time, I have found, in abiding with Him in reading, prayer and simply meditating on what He gives me fills my heart with understanding. The desire to intercede in prayer for all of those the Holy Spirit brings to my spirit becomes my heart’s desire:”And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” I know in my heart that as we ask for, and knowing it is His will in each life, the Holy Spirit will do it. I say that because the manifestation has been seen openly in the lives I have interceded for. This is an awesome experience and oh my, does my faith soar with a greater desire to pray more!

God is so faithful to His promises; and as I am growing and He is proving how He answers our prayers I am amazed and blessed beyond words. So, my reason for including this was not to boast but to acknowledge the true faithfulness of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit in all facets of our lives and those we pray for. A yielded heart is a pre-requisite, because without this we are in control and not His Spirit.

Our most fervent prayer would be:

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”
