A spiritual battle

Rev 12:11  And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their  testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death.

1 John 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

I was asked to give my testimony about how I came to recommit my life to the Lord. We set a date, something happened and we had to reset it. Something happened, and we had to reset it again. The third time Faye’s uncle died, so a trip to Jamestown Tennessee for the Funeral was required. Because I did not want to postpone again, we decided to have Faye ride down with her sister and I would drive to Jamestown after my testimony. The testimony went off without a problem, so it was finally done. Satan probably was involved in the happenings that caused three tries to get it done.

One evening before leaving for Tennessee I was reading “Not I But Christ”, by the great Corrie Ten Boom. The chapter I was in was titled. “Are we powerless against demons” Corrie quoted many verses on what Jesus has done for us and how we could call on the blood of Jesus and his name against Satan. The Devil is afraid of Jesus and His Word. This whole Satan thing was a little scary because I had not heard much, or thought much about Satan at that time. About half way through the chapter I got up to go to the bath room, and had this terrible, dreadful, feeling something was in the room with me, specifically behind me. I spun around but could see nothing. It felt like the hair was standing up all over my body. Never in my life had I experienced any thing like it. No doubt it was evil, so I willed myself to finish the chapter and learn how to confront this presence. I prayed as I read and then went to bed and continued to pray, I called on the lord for help, I challenged Satan with the name and the blood of Jesus. My prayers went on for about and hour before whatever it was left, and I was able to go to sleep.

I shared this with my Pastor at our next meeting. He called my attention to the scripture at the top of this page, had me read it, and made some comments. When we prayed Pastor thanked the lord for allowing me the opportunity to experience some of the power of the ruler of this world. I believe Satan was trying to scare me away from however God was going to use me in the short and long term future. I hope it never happens again, but if it does I know what to do, because greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.
