How casually we use the word, Love.
I love: cake, pie, steak, ice cream.
I love Golf, Football, Basketball, Soccer.
I love: sunny days, the beach, my hobby, money.
I love: God, my Savior Jesus.
Jesus tells us that we are to love one another, our brothers and sisters in Christ. God’s Word even says that if I don’t love my brothers and sisters, I don’t really know God because God is love! To me this means just what it says.
What if they have been mean or nasty to me? I still love them; none of us is perfect. I recall a child telling me that they hated me. I didn’t like hearing that, but I still love them.
In John 15:9-10 Jesus says: “As the Father loved me, I also have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.â€
I love my church…not the building, but the people. I love worshipping with the other believers. I love fellowshipping with them. I love the music and the prayers and the feeling of the presence of God. I pray that my brothers and sisters know the love that I feel toward them.
Father, may I show my love to each one by my thoughtfulness, kindness, generosity and my concern for them. Thank you for each person who attends our church. Thank you for each person on the staff and for what they do to help us grow spiritually. Thank you for all those who volunteer to make our church such a pleasant place. Thank you for the officers, leaders, and teachers who work with our pastors to give us direction and encouragement. They help us be what you want us to be individually and as a congregation. May we show our love not just internally but also to our community and to the world.
