Text: He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me. Tweet: It’s one thing to hold a Bible publicly at a church or to read it out loud in public, but another thing altogether to believe and obey it. If the Bible was not just a political prop being used by our politicians to improve their poll numbers, but was their actual spiritual authority—the standard by which they judged their own beliefs and behavior, as well as the beliefs and behavior of others—our republic wouldn’t be in its present peril. As Jesus taught, it is those who obey His word who truly love Him, not those who flaunt it publicly and flout it personally.
