Tweet: Contrary to popular opinion, as well as most translations of the Bible, in the original language of the text, Revelation 13:18 actually says that “the number of the beast…is the number of man,” not “the number of a man.” We know that 6 is the number of man, since man was created on the sixth day. We also know that 3 is the number of God, since God is triune—Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Therefore, the number 666 represents man’s usurpation of the place of God, which is the very sin that got Lucifer thrown out of Heaven, Adam and Eve thrown out of the Garden of Eden, and resulted in the Fall of man and the corruption of God’s earth. This end-time mark is symbolic of the fact that in the last days this beastly sin, man’s usurpation of God’s place, both in his personal life and in all of the world, will reach its crescendo, ushering in unprecedented catastrophe upon all of humanity.
