THE TWEETED BIBLE

Text: Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved. (John 13:23)

Tweet: Within the seventy disciples of our Lord there were twelve chosen by Christ to form a more intimate inner circle. Within the twelve there were three who made up a more intimate inner circle still. These three—Peter, James, and John—were chosen by Christ to accompany Him on certain occasions when the rest of the twelve disciples were left behind; such as, Christ’s transfiguration, the raising of Jairus’ daughter from the dead, and Christ’s agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. Finally, within the three, there was one—John the Beloved Disciple. John’s unique intimacy with Christ, which led to him leaning on Christ during the Last Supper and to Christ’s committing the care of His mother to John from the cross, wasn’t a matter of Jesus loving His beloved disciple more, but of His beloved disciple loving Jesus more. Are you one of Christ’s most intimate beloved disciples?
