The Christian must look into the Bible to see his identity in Christ. Afterward, he must live out in his Christian life his Biblical identity. He must, as James admonishes us, “not [be] a hearer [of God’s Word] only,” but a “doer” of God’s Word as well (James 1:22). D. L. Moody understood this great truth of Scripture, which is proven by this famous quip, “Every Bible should be bound in shoe leather.”
