Great emphasis is put on a proper diet today. To be physically healthy requires a healthy diet. To be undisciplined in our eating can result in sickness and malnutrition. Therefore, we are taught today to watch our diet in order to properly care for our temporal bodies.

Ironically, no such care is taken today when it comes to people’s spiritual diet, which is critical for the proper care of their immortal souls. As we learned yesterday, the Bible is soul food. It is the Christian’s daily sustenance in the wilderness of this fallen world (Deuteronomy 8:1-3). God’s Word must be eaten by us, as it was by the Prophet Ezekiel and the Apostle John (Ezekiel 3:1-3; Revelation 10:8-10), if we are to be spiritually healthy.

Why is it that so many contemporary Christians are spiritually weak and sickly? Is it not because they are spiritually malnourished? Neglecting a steady diet of God’s Word; that is, their daily study of the Bible, has left them spiritually anemic and emaciated.
