To begin to understand the inestimable value of the Bible, one must first understand that the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God. Although unique from all other books ever written in a vast variety of ways, the Bible’s unique claim is what makes it most unique. The Bible claims to be God’s divinely inspired written revelation of Himself to mankind.

  1. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  2. “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” (2 Peter 1:20-21)
  3. “For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.” (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

If the Bible is what it claims to be, then, it is impossible for you to know God apart from the Bible. This fact alone is sufficient to establish the Bible’s incredible importance.
