Tyndale’s translation of the New Testament was not only the first to be translated from Greek to English, but it was also the first printed translation of the New Testament into English. Tyndale, unlike Wycliffe, who could only turn out one handwritten copy of his translation of the Bible every few months, could turn out hundreds of copies of his translation of the New Testament a day. In early 1526, the first copies of Tyndale’s New Testament were smuggled into England.
