Ephesians 6:14 (KJV)
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Every day Paul would sit in his cell and watch the Roman guards. Each would be standing in the same uniform, always ready for battle no matter which quarter it came from. The guards were always vigilant, ready to defend themselves and always standing their ground up until their very death.
The guard would wear a heavy leather belt about his waist. Not just to hold his garment in place, but to also hold his weapons.
As a Christian soldier we are instructed to put on the belt of truth. Jesus himself said “I am the way, the truth, and the life no man comes to the father except by me†John 14:6. So we must don the belt of truth that is Jesus Christ himself. Without Jesus we will have no way to keep our selves together or carry our weapons into battle.
Dear Lord: Let me don your truth every day. Giving me the needed strength to face the day no matter what comes my way.
In Jesus name I pray amen.
