(This month when asked to do the devotions for the church website, the Lord impressed upon me to include others. So He gave me the idea of asking church people to write their favorite verse or portion of Scripture and tell why it means so much to them. The response was absolutely thrilling! Thank you one and all. Enjoy sharing their hearts.)
Here is one from Faye Six.
My favorite is not a verse, although I have many, but it is the 23rd Psalm. The Lord is my Shepherd when I lay down at night. I fall asleep quickly, usually in the middle of a prayer. If I pray the 23rd Psalm, it is my comforter and my sleeping pill. I always get through it once and sometimes twice, emphasizing different words. The LORD is my shepherd or the Lord IS my shepherd. In times of anxiety it calms me down.
Psalm 23: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; for You are with me
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. (NKJV)
