Carol Atkins shares with us today her testimony.
Psalm 121:1-8 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help, cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”
My life verses are all of Chapter 121 of Psalms. This was my grandmother’s chapter also. In 1957, the day after Christmas I loaded up my 1952 2-door Ford with my grandmother, her sister-in-law, 2 young servicemen and myself and headed to California. Every morning, my grandmother would read these verses before we would start out from South Dakota. Driving south to get out of winter weather we took the first fellow to his base in Texas. Then on we went to California. The LORD was with us all the way. No problems. The ladies were in Pamona and we were in Long Beach. I stayed with a couple from South Dakota. Within a month I met my husband-to-be who had left from Tennessee the same day after Christmas. My grandmother always felt bad about taking me to California, but I felt it was the LORD’s will. We have been married 56 years.
P.S. The ladies had to take a bus back to South Dakota.
