Rachel Belles, our organist, writes:
One of my favorite verses is: Psalm 23:1 “The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want.”
“The” – not “a” but “the” – HE’s the only one.
“LORD” – The powerful, holy, Almighty GOD
“is” – at the present – right now
“my” – it’s personal – HE’s mine
“Shepherd” – HE’s my guide, my protector, my provider
“I shall not want” – I lack nothing
The story is told of a little girl who had memorized Psalm 23 and was to recite it in a program at church. She got up on the platform and when she saw all those people, she got stage-fright. She said, “The LORD’s my Shepherd, and that’s all I want” and went running off the platform.
Yes, the LORD is my Shepherd and that’s all I want. I have everything that I need in Him. And yes, HE can be your Shepherd today!
