Colossians 1:9-10Â Â For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
Genesis 15:6Â Â Then (Abraham) believed in the LORD; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.
Hebrews 11:6Â Â And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
NASB Translation
In Paul’s letter to the Colossian church he acknowledged, and praised them for their love in the Spirit, faith, and good works. He made them aware of his unceasing prayers so they may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that they may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord. As I thought of being able to walk worthy of the Lord, it puzzled me for a while. How can I be worthy? I used to believe I was worthy of nothing but hell, which is true. But because of my belief in Him, my faith, I am considered righteous in Christ. He has reconciled me to Himself. As a child of His, I am worthy. Thank you Jesus. God reckoned Abraham righteous because of his faith. I am only righteous because of Him, and because of Him I can walk worthy of Him. Sinner I am I have stumbled along the way and am sure I will continue to do so. But my faith will strengthen and guide me as I seek to grow in Christ. I will pray and ask others to pray, that I may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so I can continue on the way to my eternal perfection promised by the Lord.
