NASB Translation

In the previous devotional the Apostle Paul, and also Peter, called those that received Jesus as Lord and Savior a holy nation of the Royal Priesthood. I am told by John that Jesus is the light of men and Jesus plainly tells me he is the Light of the world and if I follow Him I will not walk in the world but have the light of life. Jesus also says if I believe in the Light, I become a son of light. Later Paul, while teaching the Ephesian church, tells them and me through his written word, to walk in the light as children of light. I claim Jesus as my Lord and Savior and that makes me one of His Royal Priesthood. If I am truthful in my profession of faith to Jesus, then I should be making every effort to walk in his light. John makes it plain that if I claim to walk in the light but hate my brother I am still in the darkness. Many other disobedient actions could also prove a lack of effort on my part.

Lord, you know better than anyone else how my effort to walk in your light is going, please help me continue growth in You.
