LEAP YEAR

Aren’t we lucky?  We have an extra day this year!  February has twenty-nine days in 2016.  Do you have any plans for the extra day….24 whole more hours? When I thought about all of that extra time it occurred to me that I don’t really have any more.  Job 14:1: “Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble”. Verse 5: “Since his days are determined, the number of his months is with You.” God has already determined the amount of time that we have; he knows the exact number of years and the precise number of days and hours that we will be on the earth.

“So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Psalm 90:12. Ephesians 5:15-16: says: “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”   I guess that that tells us exactly how we should use our extra day.

We know that time is growing short for this earth.  Jesus could come today.  If not, He could take us Home to be with Him.  Either way, I am so close to the end of earthly time.  Now is not the time to be idle.  We need to redeem the time….to work for Jesus while we have the opportunity.

God has told us in Deuteronomy that, “as your days, so shall your strength be”.  Whether we have many years left to witness and work, or only a few days, we will have God’s help and provision to enable us to do the tasks that He gives us to do.

Leap Year allows us one extra day to enjoy life.  I would like to spend it in worship and praise and telling others of Jesus and His love.  Enjoy the gift of an extra day!

Here is an old hymn by Elizabeth K. Mills:

O LAND OF REST, FOR THEE I SIGH!   WHEN WILL THE MOMENT COME   WHEN I SHALL LAY MY ARMOR BY AND DWELL IN PEACE AT HOME?

REFRAIN:  WE’LL WORK TILL JESUS COMES, WE’LL WORK TILL JESUS COMES, WE’LL WORK TILL JESUS COMES, AND WE’LL BE GATHERED HOME.
