HAVE YOU HEARD FROM GOD LATELY?

What has God said to you today?  In the last week? When was the last time you heard Him speak to you? Should we expect Him to speak to us?

The scriptures tell us that He spoke to Adam and Eve, to Noah, to Abraham, to the prophets. Should we not expect Him to speak to us? He speaks to us through His Word, the Bible. Consider Revelation 2:7: “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches”. Rev. 2:11, Rev. 2:17, Rev. 2:28, Rev. 3:6, 3:13, 3:23.

Do you have an ear? Then let us daily get into God’s Word. Then we can hear what He has said. Let us hear what he is saying to those in our church…in His Church, which consists of His people. Even as we read His word, we need to do it properly. Read it carefully and thoughtfully – we may at times need a second reading to “hear” his messages.

When sitting with my wife, I sometimes find my mind wanders off. She speaks and I’m aware that she spoke, but I didn’t really hear and I must ask her to repeat. Something similar has happened when I read my Bible. The cares of the day invade my thoughts and I must read the scripture again to really “hear” what God is saying to me. Even as we read His Word, we need to do it purposefully.  We need to read it carefully and thoughtfully….we may at times need a second reading to “hear” His message.

We can trust His Word. The Apostle Peter in 2 Peter gives personal testimony in chapter 1:16-21. He concludes with the statement that, “Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. We can trust our Bible to speak to us, it is the Word of God. The Apostle Peter in II Peter gives a personal testimony in Chapter 1:6-21. He concludes with the statement: “Holy Men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit”.  We can trust our Bible to speak to us, it is the Word of God.

C. Austin Miles wrote this hymn:

I COME TO THE GARDEN ALONE, WHILE THE DEW IS STILL ON THE ROSES.  AND THE VOICE I HEAR, FALLING ON MY EAR, THE SON OF GOD DISCLOSES.

AND HE WALKS WITH ME, AND HE TALKS WITH ME, AND HE TELLS ME I AM HIS OWN; AND THE JOY WE SHARE AS WE TARRY THERE, NONE OTHER HAS EVER KNOWN.
