Psalm 73:24 – “You will guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.â€
James 1:5 – “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally, and without reproach, and it will be given him.â€
When do you ask for God’s guidance? As Christians, most of us would say we want His guidance in all the important decisions we must make. Certainly we need His guidance in those big choices.
Does not life consist mostly of a series of small daily decisions along with just a few of what we call big, important decisions? I suspect that many of these small decisions are made casually and perhaps more out of habit or carelessness rather than thought. Then when we get into trouble, we ask for advice or help from others and if it gets especially difficult, we ask for God’s help.
Let us decide to seek God’s guidance daily in prayer, but let us also seek it in His words, our guide book. James 3:17: “But the wisdom that is from above it first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.â€Â He has also promised us wisdom if we ask for it expectantly without doubting and He gives it liberally (James 1:5,6). His wisdom is always available when we ask for it.
What a way to start each day:
*Read His Word to get His guidance.
*Pray daily for Divine guidance and wisdom.
This is the best way to be a wise guy! I like these first two lines from Fanny Crosby’s ALL THE WAY MY SAVIOUR LEADS ME:
ALL THE WAY MY SAVIOUR LEADS ME. WHAT HAVE I TO FEAR BESIDE? CAN I DOUBT HIS TENDER MERCY WHO THRO’ LIFE HAS BEEN MY GUIDE?
