Hosea

Hosea 6:1-3 (KJV)
1 Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

The people of Judah realized that their allegiance to other countries would not save them and they needed to return to the one true god. The promise here is that even though the punishment of the lord torn and bruised the people, they would be restored by the same God.

The second verse is of great interest because of the Short time frame in which the people would be healed. More important is the reference to the raising up on the third day. Most commentators see this as a reference to the resurrection of Jesus.

The reference to the rain is made to show that as sure as the fall and spring  rains would come God would provide for his people as they repented for their sins.

Today god will continue to provide for the true believers who repent of their sins and believe in his son, Jesus Christ. For as sure as the rains will fall he will care for his son’s bride the church.

Dear Lord: As it is written in James let us confess are sins one to another. Allow us the time to repent of sins and be given the opportunity to share the Gospel. To be able to go forth and be a reflection of your son in a lost and dying world.

In Jesus name I pray amen.
