Ezekiel 29:17-21

17Â And it came to pass in the seven and twentieth year, in the first month, in the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
18Â Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyrus: every head was made bald, and every shoulder was peeled: yet had he no wages, nor his army, for Tyrus, for the service that he had served against it:
19Â Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will give the land of Egypt unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall take her multitude, and take her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army.
20Â I have given him the land of Egypt for his labour wherewith he served against it, because they wrought for me, saith the Lord God.
21Â In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am the Lord.
Daniel 4
4Â Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
2Â I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.
3Â How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.
4Â I Nebuchadnezzar was at rest in mine house, and flourishing in my palace:
5Â I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.
6Â Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream.
7Â Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof.
8Â But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my God, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and before him I told the dream, saying,
9Â O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.
10Â Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great.
11Â The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth:
12Â The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it.
13Â I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven;
14Â He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:
15Â Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:
16Â Let his heart be changed from man’s, and let a beast’s heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.
17Â This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
18Â This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
19Â Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.
20Â The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;
21Â Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:
22Â It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.
23Â And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;
24Â This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:
25Â That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
26Â And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.
27Â Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.
28Â All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.
29Â At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.
30Â The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
31Â While the word was in the king’s mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
32Â And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
33Â The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws.
34Â And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:
35Â And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
36Â At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.
37Â Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
Jeremiah 52:31-34
31Â And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the five and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the first year of his reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison.
32Â And spake kindly unto him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon,
33Â And changed his prison garments: and he did continually eat bread before him all the days of his life.
34Â And for his diet, there was a continual diet given him of the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.
2 Kings 25:27-30
27Â And it came to pass in the seven and thirtieth year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the year that he began to reign did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of prison;
28Â And he spake kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon;
29Â And changed his prison garments: and he did eat bread continually before him all the days of his life.
30Â And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life.
Psalm 44
44Â We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.
2Â How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.
3Â For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.
4Â Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.
5Â Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
6Â For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.
7Â But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.
8Â In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.
9Â But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.
10Â Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
11Â Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.
12Â Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.
13Â Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
14Â Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.
15Â My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
16Â For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.
17Â All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.
18Â Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;
19Â Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.
20Â If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;
21Â Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.
22Â Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
23Â Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.
24Â Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?
25Â For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.
26Â Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies’ sake.
