“WALK UPRIGHTLY”

Psalm 84:11 “For the Lord God is a sun and shield:  the Lord will give grace and glory:  no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”  Webster’s dictionary says that ‘upright’ means to be erect, in a vertical position; just.”  We are to walk in this fashion.  The verse says that the Lord is a sun and shield.  When we look at the sun, we need a shield or we will burn our eyes.  We need the sun, but we need a shield from the brightness as we walk uprightly.  Also, it says He will give us grace and glory.  Grace (unmerited favor) which God wants us to have.  Oh, such blessings.  But not only rich grace, but glory also.  Doesn’t all glory belong to God.  But how much we  do enjoy His glory.  His majesty, His greatness and His holiness we sense as we worship Him.  To walk uprightly is to walk daily with God and enjoy His presence every day we live.  No good thing will He withhold from them who walk uprightly with Him.  No crawling around, no sneaking, no stumbling, just walking in an upright way with our God.  Doing what is right according to His Word.  Yielding to His will and His way.  Enjoying His presence as He walks with us.  Did not our hearts burn within us as He walked with us?  It’s lonely without Him.  It can become confusing and disheartening when we do not walk uprightly with Him.  We can hold our heads up because we are His child and walk with Him.  Practice the presence of Jesus every day in all we do and all we say.  Then we have the promise that all that comes our way is good for His glory and our edification.  Walk uprightly.
