Psalm 23:4 “Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.â€Â
Walking in a valley of a shadow of death surely can cause some concern and maybe fear. The key word is ‘through’. We will walk THROUGH the valley of the shadow of death. Maybe it seems like death, the end, but the Shepherd will take us THROUGH this valley. What can the valley be? Sickness, broken relationships, loss of a job, failure and on we can go with problems that seem like we are in a shadow of death. Seems like the end. But we walk THROUGH this time without fear. How can we do that? The Psalmist says because “You are with meâ€. Every valley we walk through, God is there. Every problem we face, God is there. Every hard decision we have to make, God is there. That’s why we fear NO evil. One of the hardest things about trials and hard times is the uncertainty about how long they will last. Perhaps this is why God says we will walk THROUGH them. Clinging to Jesus, we can conquer those valleys and keep on walking, fearing no evil because He is with us. His promise is that He will NEVER leave us nor FORSAKE us, even in the valley of the Shadow of Death. Keep walking and you will win.Â
