“WALK IN LOVE”

Ephesians 5:2  “And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling aroma.”  The words of that hymn, “Love Lifted Me” come to mind.  It was love that lifted us when nothing else could do it.  It was the love of God for us that put Jesus on the cross for our sins.  It is love that lifts us from despair.  It is love that drives us to help others.  It is love that wipes away tears.  It is love that helps us with our infirmities.  It is love that carries us.  It is love that melts our cold hearts, dispels our anger and moves us on the way.  “IF” by Amy Carmichael speaks of so many ways we can know Calvary love.  For instance, “If I fear to hold another to the highest because it is so much easier to avoid doing so, then I know nothing of Calvary love.”  When we begin to understand Calvary love, then we can begin to walk in love.  Christ gave His all on Calvary.  It will take our all to “walk in love”.  Walking in love crucifies all our ambitions, desires and lusts.  Love takes over and spills over to others.  Love, not worldly love, which is sensual, selfish and prideful, was God’s answer to a sick world.  Calvary love opened the door to salvation.  How we long to walk in that Calvary love that gives all.  Love one another.  Love the sinner with Calvary love.  Walk in love.
