Ephesians 5:15,16 “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” The Holman translation says, “Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk – not as unwise people but as wise – making the most of the time, because the days are evil.” Circumspectly means to be “careful to consider all circumstances and consequences”. Watch where you are stepping. The circumstance is the pot on fire. The consequence is that if you grab it, you will get burned. If more of us considered the consequences of what we wanted to do, perhaps, we would not get into so much trouble. Consider what you want to do in the light of God’s Word and then proceed or abandon the idea. Decisions are made without thinking. Consequences are suffered that could have been avoided. If we pray about choices before we make them, we could avoid problems we do not want. God has a plan for our lives; plans for good and not for evil. It is ours for the yielding and asking Him to fulfill that plan. What would it be like to walk every day circumspectly, close to God? How many dangers and pitfalls would be avoided? The days are certainly evil. The world offers us that which will lead us astray from God. It is not getting better. The news makes our hearts melt with worry and fear. BUT GOD is the controller of our lives as we continually commit to Him and walk with Him. May we walk circumspectly, considering all circumstances and consequences every day that God allows us to live on this earth. May we walk with Him, letting Him do the leading.
