I Corinthians 3:3 “For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?”   We know that carnal means fleshly. In the previous verses the writer of I Corinthians refers to carnal as babies, as those who cannot eat meat and vegetables. Those who have to be bottle fed with milk. Just give them simple food to digest. Salvation is not a ticket to Heaven, it is a way of life. Born again is a new life beginning. John 3:16 is a good bottle of milk but as we grow and develop we want more. Even a deeper meaning of John 3:16. More Bible stories, more teaching of the meaning of God’s Word. Paul told the Corinthians that they could bear anything but milk and even now they still need milk. No growth. No development. They are still carnal. The only way to grow is the right food that will develop our bodies. The same thing is necessary spiritually. Getting saved is only the beginning. Learn to eat veggies and meat. Learn to walk and run. The great commission says to go and teach and make disciples in all nations. How thrilled when people “get saved”. Now is the teaching time as I Peter says, “desire the sincere milk of the word that ye may grow.” As we avail ourselves of opportunities to hear the Word of God in sermons, classes, seminars etc. we will grow. We will learn how to not walk carnally. Leading someone to Christ is the greatest thing there is. But then we need to teach and disciple them so they can learn to walk with Jesus and obey the Word daily.
