Time Alone with Jesus

“You make known to me the path of life; You will fill me with

joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.”

Psalm 16:11

Jesus is our firm foundation that we stand on, and there is where we find joy and peace in His presence. But do we seek His presence? So often we are engulfed in the world around us and are inundated with challenges and problems of every kind. This is not uncommon to any of us, but our greatest challenge is to find the time to seek Him in quiet. But believe me, we won’t FIND it; it comes only by the will and determination of the heart to make that special time a priority in our life.

The above verse of Scripture tells us that He makes known our path and we must follow it in order to accomplish all that He has planned for us. Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” So how do we become aware of His plans for us? It is in our time alone with Him, with our hearts quietly yielded to hear that still small voice of His Holy Spirit. We cannot hear His voice in the noise of life around us – it is impossible!

So if we want to have that intimate relationship with Jesus, being alone with Him is where we can establish it. As we relax in His everlasting arms, we will begin to sense how secure we are in His love and presence. Peace and joy then fill our hearts and we feel free to talk to Jesus as to a dearly beloved, trusted friend. This brings us to that “intimate relationship” that we all hunger for. If we hunger for it, we can find it, for He is patiently waiting for us.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

Matthew 5:6
