The Fruit of Longsuffering ~ Walk in Unity

“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

Ephesians 4:1-3

How do we walk in unity? It is difficult for these fleshly bodies, but it can be done by purity, knowledge, longsuffering, kindness, and by sincere love that can be accomplished through the power of His Holy Spirit that dwells within us. Do we recognize this fruit? Yes, fruit of His Holy Spirit!

Longsuffering is very painful and we think it shall never end. But we reap great rewards through it if we will persevere in faith that God is all Sovereign and will carry us through whatever we are enduring. Every one of God’s children have experienced this, and as we look back and meditate on His wisdom for us, we can recognize and thank Him for the pain. He allows this to bring us to repentance; but read this verse in Psalm 86:15, “But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in mercy and truth.”  He will not allow us to endure suffering any longer than is necessary. The time element depends upon our willingness to yield! Oh, that our hearts are yielded to the still small voice of His Holy Spirit!

“By purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love, by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true;”

2 Corinthians 6:6-8
