“Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.’”
The question comes to mind, what is this living water? It is the Spirit of God that lives within us. The living water flows through us daily as we live to serve Jesus. Through His power the Holy Spirit enables us to live our lives through His strength to accomplish all that is of the will of God.
I am learning daily that this living water flows freely from a heart that is yielded and given to a love of Jesus, which allows a steady flow from this spring that never runs dry. It flows from us to all that we come in contact with, and they experience the presence of Jesus that lives and dwells within our hearts by His Holy Spirit, “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (John 7:38)
Do we have this living water flowing from within to all with whom we share our witness? This spring is open and flowing to all of His children that are surrendered, yielded, and have humbled themselves to be an example of the life that Jesus portrayed as He lived on this earth. It is an overwhelming challenge that is accomplished only through the power and strength of His Holy Spirit. Let’s surrender our will that He may make it possible! Let the following words be our prayer. (Written by John Henry Cardinal Newman. A portion only):
Dear Jesus, help me to spread Your fragrance everywhere I go.
Flood my soul with Your spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly,
That my life may only be a radiance of Yours.
Let me preach You without preaching, not by words but by my example,
By the catching force of the sympathetic influence of what I do,
The evident fullness of the love my heart bears to You.
“And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to
Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”
