“You have shown me the way of life,
and you will fill me with the joy of your presence.”
Acts 2:28 (NLT)
When I think of the word serenity, my mind automatically goes to the presence of Jesus. This is where we can always find Him, in that quiet stillness of heart and soul. What a place of joy and complete safety and security, in His precious presence. We deny ourselves this blessedness when we fail to sit quietly before Him in worship and thanksgiving.
The ability to experience this, however, does not come early in our walk of faith. It takes time for the work of the Holy Spirit to prepare our hearts for this reality of His ever-presence in our lives. We walk and live by faith, moment by moment, as we mature in wisdom and knowledge of God’s Word. Our hunger and thirst for Jesus will take us there as we spend much time alone, quietly meditating and listening for His voice.
There is no greater joy than walking through our day sensing the presence of Jesus walking with us as we face each challenge, and there are many. “The Joy of the Lord is my Strength” is a very loved song we often sing. It inspires our hearts to continue trusting in our beloved Savior and Lord of our lives.
If you haven’t yet experienced this great presence of Jesus, do not be discouraged. It will come as you hunger and thirst for Him, and it will come as the Holy Spirit prepares you for this great and wonderful blessing. As we know, the phrase “all things happen in HIS time” is very true to him who WAITS UPON THE LORD!
In the presence of Jehovah
God Almighty, Prince of Peace,
Troubles vanish, hearts are mended
In the presence of the King.
“Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will
bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.”
