“My instruction is far more valuable than silver or gold.â€
Proverbs 8:10 (TLB)
From where do power-driven choices come? The Holy Spirit is the power that lives within us and when we surrender our will to Him our choices will then be power driven. We can rely on His wisdom to help us make the decisions that will fit perfectly into God’s will and purpose for our lives.
So often we jump into a decision without the first inclination to ask, “Holy Spirit, what shall I do?†Consequently, our choices are not of His wisdom but our own. Inevitably, undesired consequences will follow, and we lose our way from the path that God has chosen for us.
God’s forgiveness takes place as we repent of our lack of faith. He will guide us back on His chosen road that we need to follow. Each time we fail to depend on these power-driven choices from the Holy Spirit, and He does speak to us with that still small voice with direction, we do grow in our relationship with our Father. But we have paid the price for our insensitivity to the presence of the Spirit within.
We wonder then, how many times shall I fail to respond to His presence within me before it becomes a natural reflex when choices are to be made? This comes over time as we mature in our faith and awareness of His ever-abiding presence as we walk daily with Jesus. We come to learn this verse and it comes to us immediately: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord.†So our total dependence in that still small voice of the Holy Spirit will keep us going in the right direction. Amen!
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding;â€
Remember this old adage, “We suffer the consequences of our choices OH, HOW TRUE!
