Matthew 11:15 “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
I went through the motions of becoming a Christian, I jumped through the hoops presented to me by, I am sure well-meaning Christians, made my profession of faith, was baptized, saved by the grace of God, and began my walk with the Lord, but what a shaky and slow beginning it was. Even with all the help the Lord gave to assist me, it was still a slow and sometimes confusing process. You know what? At my age it still is somewhat. Little by little the fog lifted, the blinders, and ear muffs began to drop away. As I continued to look into the mirror of my soul, I began to discover the main problem with my growth in Jesus, and it was ME! In a Saturday morning study of how to be filled with the Holy Spirit our oldest member, when asked the question, what are the prerequisites for being filled with the Spirit, answered, “There are two, you must truly be born again, and you must want to.” When Jesus said “Who has ears to hear” He didn’t mean to literally hear sound, but those willing to hear His message and apply it. Many times through my own life I heard what I wanted and discarded the rest. It still happens now and then but not as much as it did. Remember the old saying “too soon old and too late smart”? Just like the fact, by grace I am saved, I had to learn I could do nothing on my own of eternal value. Many times I have prayed God would help me speed up the process of my growth, but in His wisdom he has helped me grow, but only as fast as I could understand, and apply it to my walk with Him. My advice to young folks, start young and you could be where I am at when you are a lot younger than me. To folks around my age, keep on keeping on and all of us will be perfect with Jesus someday.
Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
