USE ME

My God is awesome!  A wonderful commentary on the power of God is found in Job in chapters 38-41.  Job responds in 42:1: “Then Job answered the Lord and said:  I know that You can do everything.  And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.”  God created the world and He sustains it.  Nothing is impossible for Him!

That is why it is so amazing that God uses us to accomplish His work.  I know that He doesn’t need to use us;  yet He desires to allow us to work with Him and for Him. And, He uses us where we are and as we are.

God called to Moses from a burning bush. Moses did not want to do what God asked him.  God then asked him, “what is that in your hand?”  God used Moses to deliver Israel out of Egypt.  He called him from the desert and used Moses as he was.  Moses had a rod.  David had a slingshot.  Dorcas had a needle.  The Scriptures tell us of many people that God used where they were and with what they had.

Our response to God is to be willing to be used.  Isaiah 6:8: “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us? Then I said, ‘Here am I!  Send me.”  God is all-powerful and He is sovereign. He can do anything He wants and He doesn’t need us.  How marvelous that He allows us and calls us to be involved in His work.  Are you willing to be used by God?

I like the way this hymn by Frances Havergal states it:

TAKE MY LIFE, AND LET IT BE CONSECRATED, LORD, TO THEE.  TAKE MY HANDS AND LET THEM MOVE

AT THE IMPULSE OF THY LOVE, AT THE IMPULSE OF THY LOVE.

TAKE MY FEET, AND LET THEM BE SWIFT AND BEAUTIFUL FOR THEE.  TAKE MY VOICE, AND LET ME SING

ALWAYS, ONLY, FOR MY KING;  ALWAYS, ONLY, FOR MY KING.

TAKE MY LIPS, AND LET THEM BE FILLED WITH MESSAGES FOR THEE.  TAKE MY SILVER AND MY GOLD;

NOT A MITE WOULD I WITHHOLD, NOT A MITE WOULD I WITHHOLD.
