Isaiah 65:1: The Lord says, “ I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help.  I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me.  I said, “Here I am, here I am!” to a nation that did not call on my name.” NLT.

This morning I read this in JESUS CALLING: Take time to be still in my Presence so that I can strengthen you.  The busier you become, the more you need this time apart with Me.  So many people think that time spent with Me is a luxury they cannot afford.  As a result, they live and work in their own strength…until that becomes depleted.  Then they either cry out to Me for help or turn away in bitterness.”

I am amazed at the thought of God waiting for me to ask Him for help.  I wonder at the picture of Him ready to come to my aid.  Then I consider my failure to spend time worshipping Him, reading His word, waiting for His presence to come to me. How foolish of me to try to do it on my own, when He is eager to be my help and strength.

Why do we struggle with life and feel like we are losing when God is just waiting and wanting to come to our side to do battle for us? He is willing and able to help us; we only need to ask! Have you ever seen a child trying to accomplish a task on his own that is beyond his capabilities?  The child works and works to finish the job that he just can’t get done.  He will finally dissolve in tears.  All the while, we are willing to help, if only he will ask.  Get the picture?

We just can’t walk in this world by ourselves.  Jesus is waiting and willing to help.  We just have to humble ourselves and ask for His help!  “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.  And lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”  Proverbs 2:56.
