John 17:15-16 (KJV)

I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Jesus prayed that the disciples would be kept in the world so they could continue to preach the gospel. In doing this Jesus knew the disciples needed to be protected from the evil one. The evil one is Satan himself who walks the earth and wishes to control the earth. But the disciples did not need to live in fear of the evil one for God is in control. Remembering they were reborn into a new creation and were citizens of a heavenly kingdom.

As Christians we need to remember that Satan is a fallen angel. Satan is not as powerful as God, yet we still need protection from his influence. We still need to pray for protection for each other so we can continue to do the work of spreading the Gospel throughout the world. We may not be of the world but we are still in the world.

Dear Lord:

We continue to live in this fallen world asking for protection from the evil one. We pray for each and every Chastain to have a hedge of protection placed around them so they can continue to share the gospel. Until there comes the time we can join you in heaven and live in your presence.

In Jesus name I pray amen.
