John 17:14 (KJV)

I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

The disciples had received the gospel. They were no longer of this world they had been reborn into the family of God and their new residence would be in heaven. For this the world hated them. They were changing everything. The religious leaders were being challenged. Man would have an opportunity to go directly to God and no longer needed the priest to intercede. The king was against them because he believed they were about to set up an earthly kingdom. The list could continue but enough has been written.

In over two thousand years nothing has changed. Christians are still hated around the world. Simply because they are not of this world, they give allegiance to God before the government. Christians will follow the laws of the land unless they infringe on their biblical beliefs. For this simple truth of looking upon immorality as sin we are persecuted. We need to be in the world but not of the world.

Dear Lord:

Give us every opportunity to praise and worship you. To be able to survive this persecution remembering we are not of this world. That we belong to you as the disciples were given to your son we are yours. Guard and protect us so we may continue to do your bidding.

In Jesus name we pray amen.
